Update from Craig Hill, Trapper in Iowa
I been trapping for residents since Best Friends has left. Mainly doing owner requests and having those whole can't care for there cats sign a release form surrendering them to me and rescue groups. I was helping Barb Bryant with the disaster shelter it was her first time running one. It as at the Lee County Fair Grounds, but we had to pack it and move it to her farm. Noah's Wish was kind to come down and set it up. They also did most of the animal care. It h as packed up and the remaining 4 cats and 12 dogs where placed at the Cedar Rapids Disaster Shelter in Cedar Rapids.
There are still a lot of house cats left in Oakville so I contacted Dr. Deb and
her group, Furkeep Animal Rescue. They can take those who are surrendered. So Paws and Noah’s Ark are two no-kill groups in the area can care for the cats I get, until I transport them. In the time I been trapping I’ve gotten 9 cats reunited with there owners, 12 surrendered to me, and 2 now that are in foster care. I also have one that was surrendered staying with me in the hotel room till I do the transport to Chicago. A friend there is taking her for her daughter. I plan on being here another 2 weeks. It was cool I bumped in to Trixie, I guess Rich sent down a feed and water team. If he was on the call with all the Iowa officials he would of know I was already there doing it. But Trixie is coming back tomorrow to help with the last efforts. But here are a few pics…
